Hula Valley Conservation
The Hula Valley contains one of the most significant wetlands of the Near East and is critical for the conservation of large populations of birds that require such areas as stopover or wintering sites in their migratory trips. Near 70.000 cranes and some 29 species of raptors winter in the area, appart from many other species of waterfowl. It is also an important habitat for breeding birds. The Agmon lake has been recently recovered after years of agricultural practices in its basin. The Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and the Artist for Nature Foundation are cooperating in a project to preserve that wetland . A group of artists from Israel, the European Union, EEUU and Russia have visited the area to picture its fauna and landscapes.
